China Awaits the Release of Avatar: The Way of Water

Chinese Authorities have informed Disney that Avatar: The Way of Water will be released on the same day that it is planned to be released internationally on 16th December. The much-awaited “Avatar” sequel is one of the few Hollywood blockbusters that has been permitted to release in the Chinese market.

Disney was keen to get the approval as China is the second highest-grossing theatrical market in the world, and Chinese Government officials of the region have been very strict on the international film released since the pandemic.

The entertainment company achieved the highest worldwide opening in cinematic history when it released Marvel’s “Avengers: Endgame” on the same day as the U.S.
