Google Pixel 7: Reviews

Now, the best part starts from here. We will give you a detailed review of Google Pixel 7. There are many changes in most features. Some of them are minor but a lot of them are major improvements from the previous model.

Although, some features should have been there as well. We will discuss them all. Let’s start.

Design & Display

Pixel 6 had an amazing design. But, Google Pixel 7 is a more refined version of it. It has a slick design that gives a luxury vibe. It also gives quite an appealing feeling to the user. You are getting a 90HZ refresh rate along with an FHD+ and OLED display.

Now, it also has an aluminum bar around the camera that looks like an extra layer around it. It also has a smooth curve around the edge.

Besides, you have different color combinations to pick from. Previously in pixel 6, the extra bar around the camera was only black. It was a bit off with different colors.

As for pixel 7, it has different variations like gold, silver, and anodized black. These colors match pretty well with the body colors like lemongrass green, snow white, and obsidian black.

While talking about the design, we need to mention the size as well. Pixel 7 is 6.3 inches which is 1 inch smaller than pixel 6. As a result, it is 416 PPI while pixel 6 is 411 PPI. That makes it more adjustable for the hands. Besides, the display is quite responsive.

So, you can easily move around the screen and get things done smoothly. It also has an anti-fingerprint coating.

So, there will be no scratch no matter how long you use it. As for the extra protection, you get edgeless corning gorilla glass on the front and back sides. Isn’t it amazing how good the display and protections are?

They have also added extra 25% brightness, which will help you operate the device outdoors, even under bright light. Besides, it is IP68-approved, which has dust and water resistance. Let’s have a look at the hardware and its performance capabilities.

Hardware & Performance

First, you need to know about the processor. Processor capability defines how much work the smartphone can pull off. There are other features to look out for. We will mention them later on.

Google Pixel 7 has Google Tensor G2. It is an upgrade from the Pixel 6 Google Tensor.

Here, you can clearly see the difference between these two processors. To be honest, there isn’t so much of an upgrade. It is not a huge jump but an improved version of the previous one.

The most important change is in the structure. It has a 4nm design which is better than the previous 5nm model. Although, there isn’t a big change in their cores. Minor differences are there.

However, there is a noticeable change in the GPU. It is a completely new model. This will enhance the overall performance quite a lot. Another noticeable change is the HDR. Unlike pixel 6, it has a 10-bit HDR.

Let’s talk about the performance. We say the overall performance is better than pixel 6. But it is not by a huge margin. Their overall performance is still comparable. Although, we have seen issues with the heating. It does heat up from heavy usage. Many users also have similar complaints.

Probably, a new patch or further test will get a solution. For now, it is not a suitable device for gaming because of that extra heating. We have seen it gets warm even from regular web browsing.

Aside from this, we haven’t seen any major issues. It has an improved processor and HDR support. It works smooth like butter. From our regular usage experience, it is truly a blessing to use this smartphone. From every touch, you will get a satisfying feeling.

Besides, its sound performance during a call is mind-blowing. Not only do you get a clear output but also it is as smooth as you can expect. So, we were pretty happy with this performance. But there is a bit of a letdown. Its high-volume performance is pretty much the same.

That really disappoints us. We expected something new and more advanced for music performance. We have to say, the battery was another letdown. It is even lower than the previous version, only 4355mAh. This isn’t enough for gaming or regular use.

Besides, overheating just doubles the problem. But we didn’t get any other issues with the connectivity or data sharing.

Google Pixel 7 uses the Android 13 update as its software base. If you need to become more familiar with it, then explore the Android 13 review. We have used the device for quite some time.

In the meantime, we haven’t faced any trouble with its performance. It’s one of the smoothest performances we have got from a device. It is similar to pixel 6 in many ways but better.

We would say that its dual biometric authentication is more helpful than the regular fingerprint scanner. Although, you get some bugs or low performance. We are hoping upcoming updates will solve them.

Cough and Snore Detection

Fitness support is a huge addition to all the latest and upcoming smartphones. Pixel 7 has added cough and snore detection. It also has regular health tracking features you need.

You can schedule, track and see everything in a detailed chart. Isn’t it amazing? From regular tracking, you can analyze the current condition and any rare changes. It will help you to visit the hospital for any sudden or critical change.

The camera is one of the major features of any smartphone. Google Pixel has introduced us to the best photography performance possible by a smartphone. The tradition has gotten even better through pixel 7. Google Pixel 7 camera is updated and even faster than its previous gen.

we expected that much for sure because it has a new processor and more codec support. Google claimed that photo processing is much faster that can rise up to 50%. Our user experience is pretty close to that. We have seen a significant photo processing boost from daily use. As for the quality, it really deserves recognition.

Truly, Pixel 7 has an amazing photography performance. Let us remind you that it has a 50MP main camera with a 1.85 aperture. It also has a rear ultrawide 12MP camera. The front camera is 10.8MP with 2.2 aperture. We expected it would be at least 2 or less in aperture.

It has several features to try. Photo and Face unblur, portrait mode autofocus, real/true tone, and guided frame are a few worthy mentions from them. Let’s see its battery life and charging capability.

Battery Life & Charging

We have been complaining about this feature for quite some time. We expected higher battery life and charging power in Google pixel 7. It has only a 4355 mAh battery which is lower than the previous one.

Even though we consider it because of the size and overall hardware upgrade, most competitors have at least 5000 mAh. We could browse social media for up to 5+ hours with a single charge. It is a bit worrying for long-term users. you must need a backup to keep on going.

Although, we have tested that it drains a bit more than it should. We guess that upcoming patches will fix this issue. It is reasonable as the latest processor does require a lot of energy consumption. But, we users expect more power stability from it.

Availability & Network Connectivity

Google is doing its best to expand the market from its launch. Currently, it is available in 17 countries since its launch. Google will advance its availability in more countries. USA, UK, Japan, Taiwan, and several other European countries.

Singapore, Norway, Nederland, and many other countries will have the stock pretty soon. You can get it from the authorized store. In the US, you can directly get it from the Google Store.

Although, you can get it directly from an online order. This is how we got it. There is no need to get into the physical store. Besides, it is even more convenient.

  • Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) with 2.4GHz+5GHz+6GHz, HE160, MIMO
  • Bluetooth® v5.2 with dual antennas for enhanced quality and connection
  • NFC
  • Google Cast
  • Dual Band GNSS
  • GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS

These are the available network connectivity for Google Pixel 7. It is not something out of the ordinary. Rather, you get all the expected network support. They perform smoothly as we have tested. So, you don’t have anything to worry about.

Q: What is the main difference between the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 6?

The main difference is the processor. Google Pixel 7 is faster and smoother than the 6.

Q: Does Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 pro are same?

They have many similarities but they are not the same. Google Pixel 7 Pro has a 120HZ refresh rate, 12GB ram, 5000 mAh battery, and 48 MP Quad Bayer PD telephoto camera. It is also costly and starts from $899.

Final Thoughts

Google Pixel 7 is a successor to its previous model. It has been a revolutionary smartphone for us. Our experience with it is as pleasing as we expect it to be. There are some drawbacks for sure. But we are hoping for a huge upgrade in the upcoming updates.
